Summary: Sometimes Naruto thinks too much.
Naruto worries when he touches Gaara he might hurt him somehow, that underneath the fine shell of sand protecting him, he might crumble and fall to dust between his fingers. Running his hand over Gaara's skin, he is reminded of dry sand, smooth but useless for castles. He thinks Gaara should not be touched but left, carefully preserved behind his shield, to keep him from the wind and rain and sea that could tear him down.
But Gaara won't let him just look. He is the one who pushes Naruto up against locked doors, pressing his lips, hot and demanding, against Naruto's mouth; he pulls Naruto's arms around him, moves his hands between their legs until Naruto is panting harshly into Gaara's neck, twisting his fingers into Gaara's hair, not worrying about fragility now. Instead, Naruto is the one who falls as he comes, slumping against the door, letting Gaara hold him up by the weight of his body against him.
When Naruto leaves he squeezes Gaara's hand gently, telling him to look after himself, but Gaara knows he's not the one who needs to be careful.
